Happy, Healthy, & Well: Supporting Your Student’s Wellbeing Learn about the importance of mental health on our campus, the resources that are available to your student, and how you can support your student`s transition to university life.

Residence Parents & Families

Join us to learn about how living in Residence at UTM can enhance the student experience and how you can best support your student living away from home. In this session, you will have the opportunity to engage with Student Housing & Residence Life staff as well as other parents and family members with students living in Residence. 
International Parents & Families Presentation Learn about life of international students at UTM. We will discuss immigration, gaining Canadian work experience, academic integrity, meeting domestic friends, and useful information to help international parents support and understand the experience their children will have in Canada.
Study Abroad and Recognized Travel Opportunities Learn about how students at UTM can add international and Canada wide travel to their degree and experience to their resumes. Through Exchange, UTM Abroad and UTM Across Canada students can earn credits towards their degree or gain Co-Curricular Record recognition. Learn everything you will need to know to help your students gain skills they will need after graduation.
The Value of Engagement Outside of the Classroom Entering the labour market can be a challenging mountain to climb for many University graduates. While in university, it is important for students to seek and explore opportunities to build their soft skills and network to help.
Get Your Questions Answered: Academic Skills for University A session offered jointly by the Office of Student Transition and the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre that focuses on the frequently asked questions parents and families have about how their student can succeed academically at University.  
Managing Time Before Time Manages You! Time-management is the process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities.  There is more to course work than just attending class and in this session the Office of Student Transition will share with parents and families how to use time to complete reading, assignments studying and more and still have time for other activities that make a well-rounded and successful student.
Understanding University Fees and Financial Aid Learn about university fees, important dates and payment methods, grants and scholarships, other financial aid options including OSAP, as well as where students can get help throughout the year. the OR is here to help!
How to Earn a U of T Degree: Courses and Programs From first year to graduation your student will be making choices about courses and programs.  Find out how you can help guide them through options, policies, and deadlines as they work towards achieving their academic goals.
