A wide variety of orientation programs and initiatives are offered at the University of Toronto Mississauga between June and September to support your transition to university. Learn more about which additional orientation opportunities are the right fit for you! 

Please Note: All Orientation programs are registration-based. You are required to register for each program you are interested in attending. The only exception is Residence Orientation.

Head Start

UTM Head Start is a program designed to introduce incoming first-year UTM students to university expectations and make the transition into university a smooth one! Interact with upper-year students on feature senior student panels and participate in simulated classroom experiences.

UTM Head Start 2018 will take place from Wednesday, August 29 to Friday, August 31.

International and New-to-Canada Student Orientation

Are you an International Student, Permanent Resident or New Immigrant to Canada? If so, the International and New-to-Canada Student Orientation is for you! This orientation opportunity will provide you with essential information, including social and cultural adjustment and the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), and help you meet fellow International and domestic UTM students.

The International and New-to-Canada Student Orientation is mandatory for all incoming international students, permanent residents and new immigrants to Canada. The orientation will take place on Saturday, September 8th 2018.

Parent & Family Orientation

Parent & Family Orientation is designed for parents and families of new-to-UTM students. Learn about student services, academic expectations, and other topics related to the university experience that can help you better support your student in their transition into life at UTM.

Queer Orientation

Queer Orientation (QO) at the University of Toronto is an annual week of LGBTQ+ focused programming open to new and returning students, staff and faculty across all three UofT campuses. Make connections, engage in activities and participate in discussions related to LGBTQ+ communities!

Queer Orientation 2018 will take place from Monday, September 24 to Saturday, September 29.

Speak with an Upper-Year Student (Eagle2Eagle)

Are you a newly accepted University of Toronto Mississauga student who is interested in knowing more about the university experience at UTM? If so, then Request a Call with an Upper-Year student as part of our Eagle2Eagle program! Our Upper Year students are engaged students from the same academic stream as you (Science, Business, Social Sciences and Humanities) who have previous experience in mentorship and leadership programs at UTM and are knowledgeable about life on campus.

Eagle2Eagle takes place during the months of June, July and August. Upper Year UTM students are available to answer your questions through a Live Chat option on the New Student website and by phone through our Request a Call initiative.

Summer Academic Skills Institute (S.A.S.I.)

The Summer Academic Skills Institute (S.A.S.I.) is a comprehensive learning skills program for all UTM students with disabilities. The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge for upcoming courses. Learn how to build an effective study plan, balance your academics and well-being and more!

S.A.S.I. 2018 will be held on Saturday, August 11th and Sunday, August 12th.
