Netbook Loans
The library offers netbooks for short-term 5-hour loan. Our netbooks are fully integrated into the library's wireless and printing system, feature Microsoft the Office Standard 2010 productivity suite, and by default have administrative privileges for all users. This allows you to install software not available on other library workstations, including textbook and tutorial packages. To sign out a netbook, please see the Information and Loans desk on level 2.

Peer Facilitated Study Groups (FSGs)
These weekly study groups give students the opportunity to study discipline-related material in an organized, regularly-scheduled format. An upper-year Peer Facilitator leads the session with the goal of helping students structure and prioritize their study routine, so that they can get the most out of their study material. Skills practiced include comparing and reviewing study notes, discussing and clarifying concepts with peers, developing and evaluating study strategies, and preparing for tests and exams. Peer Facilitated Study Groups are set up on a per-course basis. Check with your professor to see if there is one for your course.

Textbooks and other printed materials on reserve for your courses can be accessed from the Information and Loans desk located on the main floor of the library.

If you need help with the technology required for your classes including Blackboard/Portal, iClickers, or signing into the wireless network, the HIT Squad is available in person on the main floor of the library. AccessAbility Learning Strategy Services
The AccessAbility Learning Strategist/Assistive Technologist meets individually with UTM students who have learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and acquired brain injuries and are registered with the AccessAbility Resource Centre. Skills and Writing Workshops
The RGASC offers a variety of workshops throughout the fall and winter terms to assist you in enhancing your skills. Workshops are offered on demand when students request them, and they cover topics including core academic skills (time management, test preparation, study habits, etc.) and writing skills (argumentation, editing, outlining, etc.).

Library 101 Certificate Program
The Library 101 Certificate Program is designed to introduce UTM students to the rich resources that will help them excel in their academic career. Each session provides an opportunity to meet a liaison librarian who will teach students how to navigate the library system and develop research strategies beyond Google.

For research for a course assignment, there are 4 different options available from the Library:

- You can use our CHAT service, which is available Monday to Friday 11 am – 5 pm and can be found here.

P.A.R.T. - Program for Accessing Research Training
P.A.R.T. (Program for Accessing Research Training) is designed to prepare UTM students for possible participation in the Research Opportunity Program (ROP) and other research opportunities available across campus. Each research training module will include hands-on-practice and pragmatic tips about navigating the logistical challenges of carrying out research.

Study Space Website
The following site provides a comprehensive listing of campus study spaces and allows you to search for study spaces based on noise level, time of day, and building location. Additionally, this site provides you access to the bookable study rooms that are available in the library and Instructional Building.
Adaptive Technology Room
For the AccessAbility students, there is an Adaptive Technology Room with height adjustable tables, specialized accessibility software and equipment such as the CCTV text enlargement station. To gain access to this room, you must first register with the AccessAbility Resouce Centre.

Bloomberg Certification (Bloomberg Essentials Self Study - BESS)
The Li Koon Chun Finance Learning Centre has 3 state of the art Bloomberg terminals that are used by industry professionals around the world to access company and industry data. An online training program, BESS was developed to help students quickly gain familiarity with core Bloomberg functionality and key market fundamentals. Students can complete their Bloomberg Certification at their leisure and there is no need to schedule a specific time to complete the programme. Professional Advancement for Geography and Environment Students (PAGES)
The program is based on a series of workshops, career events and related activities designed to help students develop: an awareness of research, career and graduate possibilities; skills required to apply successfully for employment and graduate studies; and personal skills to improve self-confidence and potential within the workplace, professional direction and self-awareness. On successful completion of the program students receive a transcript notation.

Professional Development and Learning Centre (PDLC)
The Professional Development and Learning Centre (PDLC) office works to support the career needs of the Commerce and Management students at UTM. The Careers Officer assists students with career exploration, developing work experience and advancing their overall job search. Professional Skills Development Program (PSDP)
The Professional Skills Development Program (PSDP) was created exclusively for Commerce and Management students as a way to encourage professional and personal skill development beginning in 1st year through to final year. Students who consistently take part in PSDP activities throughout their years of study will be eligible to receive a notation on their official University of Toronto transcript. Students actively involved in the PSDP program will have the opportunity to improve their skills in the following competencies: Academic Development, Building Relationships, Develop Skills, Industry Research, Job Search and Know Yourself.

Communication Cafés
Do you speak, write, or read in more than one language? Communication Cafés are peer-led workshops offering assistance with key developmental skills in the academic setting. Our goal is to provide you with foundational skills linked to the improvement of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. By participating in these workshops, you will obtain instructional support, while gaining a useful network of peer scholars in a wide range of disciplines. Communication Cafés are offered in both Fall and Winter terms and are run through the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre (RGASC).

Our English Language Enhancement Workshops focus on aspects of critical reading and writing that help to prepare you for university level studies. These workshops typically attract International or English Language Learners and offer specific strategies to improve your overall comprehension in reading and quality in writing. English Language Enrichment Workshops are run by faculty members from the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre (RGASC) and are offered in both Fall and Winter terms.

One-On-One Language Development
Do you have difficulty with various aspects of the English language? Our Language Development program is designed to provide you with one-on-one support. This can include grammar and sentence structure as well as coherence at the paragraph level.
