‚ÄčThe Individual Leadership Cohort will encourage students to develop their own leadership philosophy and style. Students will develop and discover their leadership potential through interactive and engaging sessions led by upper year students.

Program Outline

  • Session 1: Foundations

    • This session will provide students with an understanding of the utmLEAD individual cohort; introduce students to various leadership and followership theories; and, disassociate the word “leader” from specific roles and positions.

  • Session 2: Challenge the Process

    • This session will help students understand the power of a unique movement; consider different perspectives; and explore a creative and innovative mindset.

  • Session 3: Public Speaking

    • This session will allow students to consider how to communicate their ideas; earn trust through honesty; and, become more confident in their speaking abilities.

  • Session 4: Unlocking Your Potential: StrengthsQuest

    • This session will reveal students' top 5 strengths. Each student will discover how their unique strengths can make them a more effective leader.

  • Session 5: Overcoming Obstacles

    • This session will address situations when students may fail; when students are unable to gain a followership; and, when students need to change their plans.

  • Session 6: Believe and Achieve

    • This session will provide students with the resources to reflect upon their experience in utmLEAD and develop an action plan to get involved in the multiple opportunities available on campus.
