Autism Ontario: Movie Night

 Movie Night. Jan 20th 6-8pm

The Project

Join us for a movie night in partnership with Autism Ontario! Students will be engaged in a community day event where we will be organizing a screening of Finding Dory for children with autism. This will be an opportunity for students to understand accommodations for children with autism. Student involvement will be CCR recognized!

Some individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have sensory sensitivities. They may be hypo-sensitive or hyper-sensitive to various things in the environment such as lights and sounds. Additionally, families with children who are diagnosed with ASD have many additional living costs that make leisure activities infrequent or impossible for many families. As such, this event will be an opportunity for UTM students to give back to the community by helping to organize a leisure activity for children with autism that takes into consideration various sensory sensitivities.

Volunteers will be helping to provide accommodations by assisting with various event logistics. These accommodations make a huge impact on the family's experience, as they facilitate participation and integration into the community.
