TCard Information

TCard - University of Toronto Student Identification Card

What is a TCard?
Your TCard is your official University of Toronto photo ID card.

What can your TCard be used for?
Your student card has many uses, both around campus and off-campus, such as:

  • for printing and photocopying
  • for using library resources
  • for access to computer laboratories
  • identification in exams
  • for access to sports facilities
  • proof of student status (for obtaining student discounts e.g. shuttle bus, UPass or meal plan)
  • registering for a meal plan
  • for transportation through the shuttle bus service and with the U-Pass

Card security

You are personally responsible for the use of your card. Please do not leave your TCard in direct sunlight and keep it away from magnetic fields. In addition, please make sure that it is secure at all times. In particular, do not share the card or the information on it with anyone else.

You will need to keep your card in good condition. If it becomes damaged or unreadable you will need to get a new card. Please contact the U of T Mississauga TCard Office immediately if your TCard becomes inoperable or is lost. It is strongly recommended that you deactivate your meal plan, if you have one, as soon as you discover that your TCard is missing.

PLEASE NOTE: The University of Toronto Mississauga ONLY accepts government-issued photo IDs for establishing your identity.

What do I need to obtain a TCard?

Although the initial TCard is free, the replacement fee for lost or stolen cards is $12. Once a replacement card has been issued, all prior cards are no longer valid and cannot be reactivated. Since the electronic cash on lost or stolen TCard is not recoverable, TCards should be treated as cash and kept in a secure place.

If you do not currently possess a government-issued photo ID, we strongly recommend you obtain legitimate identification immediately.

To establish your citizenship and identity, you must bring your offer of admission letter and ONE (1) of the following original documents:

  1. Your passport OR
  2. Your birth certificate and a piece of government-issued photo identification (i.e. driver's license) OR
  3. Permanent Resident card and piece of government-issued photo identification (i.e. your passport)

** If you are a newly admitted student, you must bring your Offer of Admission letter.
