PWC Outreach

PWC works hard to connect students to the world of writing, with publishing and reading opportunities within and outside the University. Many PWC students who go on to work as writers and editors get their first publications and reading experiences through connections PWC helps them make.

PWC faculty members help students organize and participate in publishing and reading events within the University, including Mindwaves, the official journal of the PWC program; book launches for PWC course collections or student publications; and evening readings of student work.

Faculty also work to help students get involved in the writing, publishing, journalism and broadcast world — the writing marketplace. Hundreds of students have realized the first public recognitions of their work through PWC outreach activities. Over the years, PWC students have seen work they produced in PWC courses featured in:

When new writers get published or experience some kind of public acceptance, their confidence transforms. We work to enable this transformation as an extension of our teaching.
