Professor Deep Saini, vice-president of the University of Toronto and principal of U of T Mississauga, was among distinguished honorees at two recent galas for the Sikh Foundation of Canada, and the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce.

At the Sikh Centennial Gala on June 14, Professor Saini was among a trio of honorees that included MasterCard CEO Ajay Banga and Mountain Crest Liquors founder Manjit Minhas. Now in its 17th year, the gala celebrates Sikh culture and heritage, and honours the achievements of remarkable individuals who exemplify Sikh ideals, particularly the concept of  “seva” or service to humanity.

The organization recognized Professor Saini for his leadership and career achievements at UTM and other academic institutions. The gala, a highlight for Canadian-based Sikhs, is one of the premier South Asian events in the country.
