Get ready to butt out -- Jan. 20 is Weedless Wednesday, when smokers are encouraged to stop smoking.

The U of T Mississauga's Joint Health and Safety Committee has partnered with students from Leave the Pack Behind and the U of T Mississauga Student Housing and Residence Life office to raise awareness of the health risks of smoking and being exposed to second-hand smoke.

Events include:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Region of Peel Public Health will provide information on smoking cessation programs and making healthy lifestyle choices. This event takes place in the atrium of the CCT building.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 20, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the U of T Mississauga Leave the Pack Behind chapter and the Joint Health and Safety Committee will staff booths and provide information on quitting smoking and not smoking near designated no-smoking entrances/exits (Move Your Butt campaign) to campus buildings. This event will be held in the atrium of the CCT building and at the Designated No-Smoking entrances/exits on campus.

The Joint Health and Safety Committee's Move Your Butt campaign is in its fourth year on the U of T Mississauga campus.
