Bio

Amy grew up on a farm just east of Toronto and has always had a love and appreciation for the outdoors.  Unsure of where she wanted her future to take her, she took her undergraduate degree in Business Management at Ryerson University with a major in Marketing and a minor in International Business Management from which she graduated in 2011.  After graduating from her last semester spent abroad in Europe she took some time to travel before starting her career.  With a passion for music and a degree in marketing she began working in the music industry in marketing and promotions for a few years.  After taking some time off to travel the south pacific and live in New Zealand, Amy decided she wanted to go after a career in another passion of hers, the outdoor and environmental industry. She soon began working as the Course Coordinator at Wilderness Medical Associates International, a company that offers wilderness/remote medical and first aid training for students and clients from an array of backgrounds including universities, government organizations and outdoor adventure companies. With her efficient administration skills, a talent for managing employees and clients, along with her passion and dedication to her position, she soon started managing WMAI Canada and became their Operations Director.  During her time as Operations Director Amy started taking night courses in environmental engineering at Mohawk College, which really began to spark her interest in obtaining a career where she could further contribute to the sustainability of our environment.  After more self-study and research into furthering her education, Amy decided that the University of Toronto’s MScSM program was the perfect fit to achieve her career goals.  After graduating from this program Amy hopes to be in a position where she will be able to help organizations and communities recognize the importance of building a sustainable model, making sustainability a part of their day-to-day operations for both economic and environmental incentives.

When Amy is not in the office or the classroom she spends as much time as she can outdoors, traveling and enjoying music and the company of her friends and family.  Amy is an active volunteer and member of the board of directors for Stewards of Cootes Watershed, an organization whose mission is to keep the Cootes watershed clean and healthy.
