Bio

Nicholas graduated in 2014 from Queen’s University with a Bachelor’s of Science, major in Biology. Throughout his undergraduate studies he completed courses in a variety of fields and this well-rounded learning has enabled him to think critically and analyze problems from many different perspectives.  Nicholas enjoyed staying busy competing with various intramural teams, volunteering with a children’s literacy program and maintaining a part-time job on campus.   He thrived in this environment and graduated with distinction. His interest in sustainability was stimulated by environmental science courses and after participating in a seminar course that discussed the constraints and solutions to global change in his final year.

Following his undergraduate studies Nicholas spent a summer working for an eco-tourism company in Whistler B.C., where he was able to meet and share ideas about sustainability with people from every corner of the world.  Upon returning to Ontario he recommenced work at the Ottawa Hospital as a research assistant in the department of Hematology. He has been involved in several research projects, some of which are being prepared for publication.  While employed at the hospital he volunteered for an organization in Ottawa that supports economically disadvantaged youth.  With his diverse work experience and academic background, Nicholas has perspective on issues facing the environment today and he would like to work with businesses, organizations and industries to help them become more sustainable.

Outside of work and school, Nicholas likes being active and spending time with family and friends.  He enjoys walking and biking through the city as well as getting out on a hiking trail or lake.  Nicholas is an avid skier and sailor and also enjoys cooking and travelling, he most recently spent 3 months travelling through and exploring Asia in 2015.
