Amanda Lui graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in 2014, majoring in Life Sciences and qualified for the Dean’s Honour List. Additionally, she has a Diploma in X-Ray Technology from the Eastern Ontario School of X-Ray Technology.

Through experiences in school practicums and employment, she has witnessed the value and importance of digital imaging in improving healthcare efficiency and accessibility. Over the past few years, Amanda has developed a passion for healthcare administration and technology management. Her clinical year during university gave her valuable insight and practical experience in healthcare processes. Hospital policy, funding, and management piqued her interest in healthcare management, particularly in medical technology. Aside from academics, Amanda volunteered at the local general hospital as a companion to cancer patients awaiting treatment and was also actively involved in local community organizations. In addition, working as a clinical research assistant during her studies solidified her ability to think critically and develop analytical skills. During the summer of 2012, Amanda assessed methods to maximize the healthcare system’s efficiency and cost-effectiveness of clinical pathways. It entailed researching medical techniques that enhance the quality of care of patients while minimizing cost.

Amanda’s published work along with her clinical experience affirmed her interest in a career in healthcare system management. Over the past year, Amanda pursued an employment experience outside of Canada to broaden her knowledge regarding foreign medical systems. She worked overseas in Hong Kong as a medical radiation technologist, in one of the largest acute regional teaching hospital associated with the University of Hong Kong. Amanda gained valuable experience in interdisciplinary work ranging from cooperation with various departments to management services as well as communicating bilingually.

With her strong knowledge in medical radiation technology, Amanda hopes to diversify her skill set and complement her science background with management skills that will empower her to pursue a career in the corporate aspect of healthcare and technology.
