Nick completed his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2011, as well as the Management Science Option which included management knowledge related courses such as Organizational Behavior and the Optimization and Strategic Management of Technology. These experiences led to an interest in management of innovation and inspired him to seek a career as a high-level manager in the science or engineering industry.

Throughout his undergraduate years Nick also accumulated multiple co-op working experiences, such as system design, pipe laboratory testing, manufacturing line quality control, wind turbine design and mining wear material development. As a result of his extensive work experience, Nick has acquired practical problem-solving skills and strong research techniques. His academic achievements also include a continued position on the Dean’s Honor Roll and an academic scholarship.

After graduating, Nick began a full-time position for Babcock and Wilcox Canada Ltd. as a nuclear steam generator design engineer where he focused on thermal hydraulic analysis. He provided input and support for setting the design and prepared engineering calculations by using multiple computer software, such as ANSYS CFX, Solidworks, MathCAD and RELAP 5. He reviewed and provided recommendations regarding engineering drawings with project management. He is familiar with different kinds of nuclear steam generator designs and recently completed a three-year project with China in 2015. In March 2015, Nick successfully obtained his Professional Engineers Ontario License.

Nick enjoys teamwork, community events and sports. He is also an avid traveler and enjoys exploring new cultures. Nick is looking forward to expanding his professional experiences in other science and engineering industries and integrating his working experience with the management and business skills gained from the MMI program.
