Raymond ChiassonB. of Science - Biochemistry

University of Waterloo

Raymond is a University of Waterloo graduate from the Honours Science Program with a major in biochemistry. Throughout his Co-op work terms, he worked as a researcher both in industry, at Abbott Point of Care, and in academia, at Harvard Medical School. His research has involved designing detectors for biomarkers in blood, engineering bacteriophage as platforms for nanotechnology, and creating therapeutic polymeric nanoparticles.

Raymond is an active member of his community; he volunteers with Grand River Hospital, Canadian Blood Services and “Let’s Talk Science”.

Raymond’s interest in business began at Abbott Point of Care, where he was exposed to their entire product pipeline from discovery to production to delivery. He hopes to move further down the pipeline with the MMI program by developing skills in economics, business strategy and management.
