Innomar Strategies, a part of AmerisourceBergen, is an infusion clinic and patient support provider in the Canadian specialty pharmaceutical market. Their mission is to provide access to specialty medications through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, strategic consulting, patient support programs, clinics and nursing services, and specialty pharmacy and distribution services. The major diseases Innomar treats are oncology, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative arthritis. Innomar relies on patient referrals from physicians to recruit patients into their clinics and generate revenue. From surveying physicians, oncologists in particular were concerned that there was a lack of oversight on their patients attending the clinics. Oncologists would prefer to have direct supervision of their patients and be able to monitor them for therapeutic effectiveness and adverse events in order to modify treatment regimens if needed. To address their concerns, we propose a two-part solution by implementing an electronic medical records server to better connect patient information to their respective physician. Furthermore, we propose targeting oncologists at cancer conferences to educate physicians on Innomar’s services. By increasing communication between clinics and physicians, physicians will feel more comfortable in referring patients to Innomar. This will result in increased patient traffic at Innomar and ultimately grow their services in Canada.
