About Sanofi Pasteur, R&D

Abstract: Coming Soon

About the Speaker: Peter Lashley, in his role as Director, BioProcess R&D – North America, Management Office, is accountable for the progress of New Vaccine projects through BRD, as well as facilitating Technical and Operational Innovation within BRD.  Peter is also secretary of the Pharmaceutical Strategic forum, helping teams develop prospective strategies based on targets for product attributes and process parameters.

Peter has demonstrated experience in taking projects through the different phases of product development.  He was leader of the global project team that launched Pediacel in the UK market in September 2004, capturing 100% of the market.  Pediacel is an infant vaccine for 3 dose primary immunization of infants and, where applicable, as a booster dose in children against whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis and invasive infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b.  This project required the coordination of contributions from France, Canada, United States and United Kingdom across two companies.  Peter also lead the team that licensed Pediacel across the EU.

Peter has been the leader of the Pneumococcal Protein Vaccine project.  During this time the project team established its strategy for development of a multivalent vaccine and established external relationships such as CRADAs, Testing Service Agreements and Licensing Agreements to strengthen the project.  The project has identified key antigens to take forward to the clinic and the first trial with a trivalent pneumococcal protein was completed.

Peter has been with Sanofi Pasteur for about 30 years, starting as a technician and progressing through positions with greater responsibility through, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Sales and Operations Planning and finally, Research and Development.  Peter has a Masters of Business Administration degree from McMaster University, a B.Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Toronto and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

These and related questions will be explored. All welcome! Light refreshments served at 6:00pm.

This seminar is part of the Biopartnering Seminar Series, offered by the Master of Biotechnology Program.
