Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education (BSME) is a study abroad program in Budapest, Hungary, designed for undergraduates and recent graduates interested in the learning and teaching of secondary mathematics

Paid Research Assistant Position (Programmer)

The Social-Emotional Development and Intervention Laboratory (PI: Dr. Tina Malti) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking an undergraduate student to work as our programmer and I.T. assistant. This person will assist in a variety of tasks, including processing, managing, and storing large datasets on physiological activity, facial expressions, and attention allocation. They will also assist with the lab’s day-to-day I.T. needs where appropriate. More information on our research projects can be found at

The position will begin in late April 2018 (after final exams). The student will be compensated in accord with University of Toronto Mississauga Student Union regulations.

Skills & Requirements

  • Majoring or Specializing in Computer Science at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
  • Experience working on related projects
  • Organized, conscientious, reliable, flexible, and independent
  • Follow proper programming practices (e.g., documenting code thoroughly)
  • Handle confidential data securely and sensitively
  • Strong preference for students with extensive experience using Python and Excel
  • Experience with general I.T. upkeep is highly desirable
  • Experience with mapping software is advantageous
