Throughout university, students hear from faculty and former graduates to ‘network’ and ‘establish connections.’ This is especially true in the competitive business job market, as hundreds of applicants apply for a handful of entry-level positions.

But Management students needn't fret yet: the PDLC is here to help. The PDLC (Professional Development & Learning Centre) works everyday to organize networking and professional development opportunities throughout the year. The Associate Yourself Fair (AYF), started in 2016, connects professional associations and organizations with students in an intimate setting. The result: fun, fellowship and bright futures ahead!

The PDLC’s 2nd AYF was held in Spigel Hall on January 17. Attended by 220 students and 26 displayers, this year’s event expanded on the first fair’s success. Representatives from professional organizations such as CPA and CMA offered resources and advice for UTM’s aspiring business professionals. External companies and not-for-profits displayed services and recruitment information for current students and recent graduates.

UTM’s student associations, like BCA and UCS, informed students about the benefits of departmental involvement and participation. UTM’s Career Centre, Office of Student Transition and ICUBE also tabled, advertising exciting opportunities coming later in the semester.
