Characters from Disney's movie, Frozen

Watch "Frozen" under the stars at Flicks on the Field

UTM Staff

Grab a blanket, your lawn chairs and some snacks and join us for this Friday’s Flicks on the Field. As part of the festivities for this year’s Spring Reunion, UTM is hosting a free outdoor showing of Disney blockbuster film, Frozen, on the front lawn of the William G. Davis Building.

Flicks on the Field starts at dusk on Friday, May 30. Please visit the event page for more information >

If you’re looking for a preview, or just want to brush up on the lyrics of the film’s hit songs, check out this great cover version of one of the film's hit tunes from UTM alumnus Andrew Prashad.

Prashad, who holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance from UTM, is an actor, musician, dancer and choreographer and dance judge. During dance competition season, Prashad travels often for work, which means he’s not at home to sing his daughters to sleep.

At their request, Prashad recorded a version of the girls’ favourite song—Do You Want To Build A Snowman—so they could hear his voice when he was away.

Prashad created his own arrangement of the song and recorded the vocals, guitar, piano and saxophone in his basement studio. He uploaded the video to YouTube where it caught the attention of John Flynn, a VP for Disney who also blogs for Disney Dads at Babble.com, one of the largest parenting websites based in the United States.

“There are hundreds, if not thousands of people performing various Frozen covers on YouTube,” Flynn wrote. “This one really struck me, because this dad recorded the song for a very special reason: his two young daughters begged him to do it so that while he was travelling for work, which he does frequently, they could listen to it and in this way be sung to sleep each night, even while he’s away.”

See Prashad’s video here, and join us for "Frozen" at Flicks on the Field on Friday, May 30, 2014.
