VP-Principal to discuss immigrant experience

U of T Mississauga's vice-president and principal, Professor Deep Saini, will share his personal experiences as an immigrant to Canada at a free lecture on Monday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. in room 140 of the Instructional Centre, U of T Mississauga, 3359 Mississauga Rd. N. Parking is free in lots 1 and 9 for the duration of the event.

Saini, who left India at age 23 to pursue doctoral studies in Australia, will discuss Professional success in a new environment: Insights from an immigrant's personal journey. Frequently contacted by fellow immigrants, Saini will share his personal and professional insight and knowledge on those factors that he feels will ease the path to success for other newcomers.

After completing his PhD at the University of Adelaide, Australia, Saini moved to Canada in 1982 to begin his Canadian academic career at the University of Alberta. He has also held positions at the Université de Montréal and the University of Waterloo. He joined U of T Mississauga in July, 2010.

Saini's lecture, sponsored by U of T's School of Continuing Studies, will be followed by a question-and-answer session and informal networking reception. SCS has recently opened up a permanent office on the U of T Mississauga campus, offering a robust suite of continuing education courses and certificate programs at UTM.
