UTM appoints new director of Institute for Management & Innovation
Soo Min Toh, an associate professor of organizational behavior at the University of Toronto Mississauga with a cross-appointment to the Rotman School of Management, has been named director of the Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) for a three-year term, effective July 1, 2017. The Agenda Committee of the Academic Board approved the appointment in April.
Toh holds a BBS from Nanyang Technological University, a PhD from Texas A&M University, and has been a member of the U of T Mississauga community since 2003.
“Soo Min has a strong record of academic achievement, a wonderful reputation for building strong relationships and a forthright and thoughtful approach that encourages collaboration amongst her colleagues and students,” says Professor Amrita Daniere, vice-principal academic and dean of U of T Mississauga. “I am confident she will be a valuable asset to the institute and to the university in general.”
Toh’s research focuses on understanding knowledge transfer and co-operation between groups, female leadership and culture. Her research has been published in leading academic and practitioner journals in the disciplines of management and psychology such as the Academy of Management Review, the Journal of Applied Psychology and Psychological Science.
“Having known and worked closely with Professor Toh over the past few years, the IMI team is excited to welcome Soo Min as our new director,” says Donna Heslin, director of graduate programs and external relations at IMI. “We are looking forward to working together to further establish the presence of IMI in the international community and develop long-term goals and vision for the institute as a whole.”
An experienced administrator, Toh has held a number of leadership positions in international scholarly organizations and at the University of Toronto including associate chair of UTM’s Department of Management.
“The energy, talent and aspirations within IMI are sky high,” says Toh. “Together, we can make IMI all it can be, and more."
