Get a closer look at some of the outstanding UTM graduands who crossed the stage at Convocation Hall this June to join our alumni family.

Meet Wali Shah, a spoken word poet and motivational speaker. Graduating this year from U of T Mississauga, Shah speaks at schools, empowering youth and raising awareness on issues like anti-bullying, mental health and social change. He's currently the City of Mississauga's poet laureate.

 

 

 

Follow valedictorian Cherie Novocosky, who hopes to use her degree to become an art therapist, on her journey to Convocation. Novocosky discovered a love for Baroque art while at UTM, worked as an attendant at the Blackwood Gallery, and won a Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award.

 

 

Finally, Sakina Rizvi, a U of T Mississauga student who earned a specialist degree in the history of religions, became U of T's youngest graduate at 18 years, one month and a day old. She sat down to chat with Joseph Goren, 77, who is graduating with a bachelor's degree in English and art history after retiring from the University of Calgary, where he taught in the biochemistry and molecular biology department. He is believed to be U of T's oldest graduate. Watch their video here:
