Welcome!
Welcome to new and returning readers of Foreword, UT Mississauga Library’s newsletter. Foreword is an opportunity to present some new initiatives and to describe resources and services that may impact on your work as researchers or instructors.
With the new academic year comes a new look for Foreword. This engaging design is the work of our talented copy editor and designer, UT Mississauga student, Shelley Williams. I believe it reflects the current excitement and activity within the Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre (HMALC).
Inside this issue, and those that follow, you will find a new approach to content.
- Transforming Libraries – key topics which guide and influence work in research libraries. This issue, Chief Librarian, Mary Ann Mavrinac describes new scholarship and the library’s role in Digital Humanities.
- Conversation – discussions with those who advise the changes we make. Hugh Gunz, Chair, Advisory Committee to the UTM Library, reports on a year of committee activity.
- Teaching with Technology – local best practices in the use of teaching technology. Simone Laughton, Instruction Technology Liaison interviews Any Wilk, Lecturer with the U. of T. Mississauga Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences.
- Impact factor – short articles on topics of interest to our researchers. Open Access, Impact factors, student learning zones.
- Take-aways – key services and support for teaching faculty.
- News & Updates – service and resource highlights.
- Networks –conference and research conversations we want to share with you.
We hope you will enjoy this new issue of Foreword. Let us know what you think.
Best wishes for an exciting Fall 2008!
