From the Editor

Each issue of Foreword, the University of Toronto Mississauga Library's newsletter, presents the Editor with the enjoyable but difficult task of selecting only a few of the many library activities and resources to highlight. This issue of Foreword is no exception.

Among the articles, Paula Hannaford and Donna Liu describe the Library's special project using Kent State University's Project SAILS test to gather data about U of T Mississauga's first year students' information literary skills. In the Interview, A Catalyst for Effective Teaching and Learning, Simone Laughton reports her conversation with Judith Poë, Senior Lecturer and Associate Chair of the U of T Mississauga Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences, a conversation focused on the role of technology to engage students. In the News section, Paul Handley describes the upcoming and exciting addition of a new Finance Learning Centre to the HMALC.

This issue also includes information about 3 outstanding electronic resources: the recently released 2006 Canadian Census; LexisNexis® QuickLaw™, a new addition to the Mississauga collection; and Primal Pictures Interactive Anatomy, a multimedia tool with multi-disciplinary applications.

These are just a sample of the highlights within.

We hope you enjoy this issue.
