Creating a Positive Learning Environment

At the U of T Mississauga Library, it’s all about creating a learning environment conducive to academic research, reflection, discovery and learning. In May 2009, the Library was honoured with the Canadian Association of College and University Libraries’ Innovation Achievement Award for its ‘Creating a Positive Learning Environment’ initiative. As part of this integrated, multi–faceted project, the Library has blended a range of activities and strategies designed to make effective use of its space and, in this way, support students’ academic success. »
‘Virtual’ Front Door – the Library’s new website

The Library launched its new website Sept. 1. The site is the result of a development process based on gathering and analyzing the needs and expectations of the Library’s undergraduate users — its largest group of constituents.
The Library is the most popular physical space on the U of T Mississauga campus, and we wanted the ‘virtual’ front door to Library services and resources to be as enticing and welcoming as our physical space. We wanted the home page to reflect and provide immediate satisfaction to some of the high level needs of our students. »
