Is your study permit valid?
Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada; find out if you need one at www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-who.asp. You can apply for a study permit online through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website or in person at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) for your country.
If you already have a study permit, you must ensure it is valid; that is, it authorises you to study at the post-secondary (university) level for the dates concerned.
- A study permit for secondary school does not authorise you to study at the University of Toronto;
- It is illegal to study at the post-secondary level with a study permit issued for secondary school;
- If you study without a valid study permit, you may face serious consequences.
