October 6: Thanksgiving Dinner at Hart House
What: The IEC has partnered with Hart House to hold a block of tickets for UTM students to enjoy a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving dinner. Join us in Hart House’s magnificent Great Hall for a Traditional Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner at 6 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016. This traditional feast, prepared by Chef Marco Tucci will feature turkey with all the trimmings, a variety of local side dishes, vegetarian entrée plus a number of aboriginal dishes. October 11: Royal Ontario Museum
What: Join the IEC for a trip to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). Experience art, world culture, and natural history among the displays of dinosaurs, gems, and mummies! For more information visit the ROM's website. This event is being offered as part of UTM's Fall Reading Week program; Emerge @ UTM.
October 12: Ripley's Aquarium
What: Join the IEC for a trip to Ripley's Aquarium of Canada. See more than 16,000 aquatic animals, enter an underwater viewing tunnel, and get up close with over 100 interactive displays! October 13: Hart House Farm
What: The IEC has partnered with MoveU and the UTM RAWC to offer you a trip to Hart House Farm for a unique opportunity to experience the Canadian countryside in the autumn season. Escape the city and take in the Fall colours while you relax on hiking trails or playing sports. There will be apple cider pressing and tasting, musical jam sessions (bring your instrument if you'd like to play), and a FREE BBQ LUNCH. October 20: International Ask Me Anything
What: Ask Me Anything is an opportunity for international undergrads to connect with successful upper year international students and the International Education Centre to ask questions about anything! Come and chat about what life is like in Canada, hear personal stories from other students on what they've experienced, and meet other students who are similar to you.
October 25: Sharing Strengths, Sharing Struggles
What: You are invited to join the IEC Peer Support Group. Join our peer-led supportive conversation circles while enjoying some free snacks. Meet other international students, as well as domestic students who have participated in IEC programs. This is a great chance to meet new friends, talk about stressors (homesickness, school stress, etc), and to discuss ways to thrive.
October 31: Pumpkin Carving
What: Pumpkin carving is a very common activity at Halloween time in Canada and the USA. Take part in UTM's Annual Pumpkin Carving competition with our IEC Ambassadors
