  • Take Five program in Developmental Biology & Evolution.
  • MA in Psychology and PhD in Psychological & Brain Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University.
  • Post doc position at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, NL.
  • Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto, and the Director of the UTM Infant Language & Speech Lab.

Research Interests:

  • Perception/production of infant-directed speech, visual prosody, speaker recognition, sentence processing by toddlers, early word recognition, and the perception of language-specific prosody.

  • phonetics, speaker recognition by infants, children, and adults, forensic speech science, auditory-visual speech processing

  • speech perception, perceptual learning, native and second language communication, music and language processing

  • BSc specializing in Psychology and majoring in Biology from the University of Toronto.

Research Interests:

  • How infants interpret and evaluate speakers based on the way they speak (i.e. tone of voice, or their accent).
  • How children use the social information in their environment to acquire language (i.e. using tone of voice to infer word meaning).

Fun Facts: I am able to understand fluent Gujarti from a very young age but for some reason cannot speak it. Maybe this ROP might help me figure out why!

Fun Facts: I love to read all sorts of fiction and non-fiction novels. I also love to write short creative pieces and one day would like to publish a novel.

Future Plans: I'd love to work as a clinical psychologist, pursue my own research, or start a business. Honestly, any job where I get to keep learning while giving back to the community would be a dream!

Fun Facts: I'm from California, I can recite the entire periodic table song, and I can handle a ridiculous amount of spicy food.
