Microsoft is ending support for the Windows XP Operating System - April 8th 2014

Microsoft is ending support for the Windows XP Operating System.  

If you use a University owned (not personal) Windows XP computer at UTM, please submit a trouble ticket at http://helpdesk.utm.utoronto.ca/ and let us know:

  1. Where the PC is located?
  2. How its used? – Please list any peripherals and instruments connected to the PC
  3. Who uses it?

Following the receipt of your ticket we will contact you to review your needs and requirements and recommend a suitable solution.

Note that all University owned computers are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7/8 Enterprise version.  This includes full disk encryption feature to safeguard data in the event of lost or stolen PC.

After April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer provide support, security updates, bug fixes or any other patches for Windows XP.  Details can be found at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows/end-support-help.
