Foundations of Research LLC

Take ownership of your educational path while discovering your learning strengths and interests as they relate to undergraduate research by participating in the Foundations of Research LLC. In this multi-disciplinary residence community, students will have the opportunity to develop sustainable learning strategies while garnering a more informed perspective of the various undergraduate research pathways available for students at UTM. In collaboration with the Office of Student Transition and the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre, this residentially-based community is designed for students enrolled in UTM118H5F during the 2018-2019 academic year. Students will live in common community in Erindale Hall and will be registered in the same lecture for UTM188 as a cohort. Participation in the Foundations of Research LLC will also be centered upon participation in the Program for Accessing Research Training (P.A.R.T).

The approach taken to co-curricular learning and development within the Foundations of Research LLC will be active and experiential. Utilizing a peer-facilitated approach within a shared living environment, this living-learning community will seek to engage students socially, intellectually and professionally in ways that promote an appreciation for the various ways in which one’s individual knowing is enhanced when other voices are involved in a learning experience.
