Physical Health TeamPhysical Health Team

The Physical Health Team is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of peer health education events and initiatives on campus, focused on physical activity (MoveU), nutrition, and sleep hygiene. Working closely with our campus partners including the Department of Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation, and the Health & Counselling Centre’s Registered Dietician, the Physical Health Team strives to educate students about the many health and academic related benefits of a balanced and active lifestyle. The Physical Health Team also promotes access to the wide range of wellness programs, resources, and facilities available to students at UTM, including the Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre (RAWC). This team consists of 1 Team Lead (Work-Study), 1 Program Assistant (Work-Study), and 10 UTM Wellness Ambassadors (Volunteers).

 

Mental Health & Safety TeamMental Health & Safety Team

The Mental Health & Safety Team is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of peer health education events and initiatives on campus, pertaining to student mental health, de-stigmatizing mental illness, alcohol and drug misuse prevention, and sexual health. Employing a dual strengths-based and harm reduction approach, the team creates opportunities for students to reflect upon and engage in activities that build coping and resiliency skills, and enhance knowledge and access to available campus and community resources. This team consists of 1 Team Lead (Work-Study), 1 Program Assistant (Work-Study), and 10 UTM Wellness Ambassadors (Volunteers).

 

Leave the Pack Behind (Tobacco Cessation) TeamLeave the Pack Behind Team

Leave the Pack Behind (LTPB) is a tobacco education, reduction and cessation initiative for students on post-secondary campuses, funded by the Government of Ontario. The LTPB Team offers students smoking and quitting information, personalized support, and quitting resources. For more information about the LTPB program, visit leavethepackbehind.org. The LTPB Team at UTM consists of two (2) Social & Digital Influencers (Work-Study).

 

Outreach & Special Events TeamOutreach & Special Events Team

The Outreach & Special Events Team is responsible for coordinating the promotions and outreach for the UTM Wellness Ambassadors Program (via educational booths, walkabouts, and class announcements) and staffing major campus events during the year. The Outreach & Special Events Team consists of over 50 volunteers who are supported by a Team Lead (Work-Study) and Program Assistant (Work-Study).
