Let's Talk UTM

Let's Talk UTMBy sharing the stories and lived experiences of our students, staff and faculty, we hope to further the conversation around mental health on campus, reduce stigma, and help make UTM a more open and inclusive community.

Students, staff and faculty at UTM can get involved in three ways:

1. Mental Health in Our Own Words video. Tell us what mental health means to you by participating in the filming of this first-of-its-kind video project.

Drop by the Wellness at UTM table at Exam Jam on December 5, 2017 from 10am-5:30pm in the IB Lobby to learn more about the campaign and to participate in the filming of the Mental Health in Our Own Words video.

2. Stories of Resiliency Photo Series. A visual showcase of individuals' experiences with overcoming mental health challenges. *NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS*

We’re asking students, staff, and faculty how they were able to bounce back from adverse situations and how to build resiliency and grit. Stories will be featured across campus and via social media platforms.

To participate, email your responses to the following 3 questions to wellness.utm@utoronto.ca:

  •     What does mental health mean to you?
  •     What is a mental health related challenge you have overcome or are currently facing?
  •     What coping strategies and resources have you found personally helpful and would like to share with other students?

Following your submission, we will contact you to set up a brief appointment to finalize your profile and get your photo taken.

3. #LetsTalkUTM Day. A campus wide event coinciding with Bell Let’s Talk Day, a national mental healh awareness campaign.

Join the conversation with students, staff and faculty on January 31, 2018 and learn more about mental health resources and supports on campus and in the community. More details coming soon!
