Biography

A Toronto native, Mr. Ball has completed an Honors Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2011 with a specialist in Biological Chemistry and a major in Chemistry. He has since gone on to pursue a graduate degree in the field of Medicinal Chemistry and is currently approaching my fifth and final year for his doctoral thesis and is currently working on developing new and exciting therapeutic treatments for Glioblastoma and non-small cell lung cancer. Having received numerous awards and scholarships at both the provincial and national level, authorships in over 10 peer reviewed scientific literature journals, publication of a book chapter and several national conference presentations and awards his research portfolio is quite robust.

Outside of the academic environment Daniel enjoys contributing to the overall community here at UofT by participating in focus groups, awards selection committees and a variety of student governance activities. He has enjoyed being part of the positive change within the University and am most proud of his work as the president of the University of Toronto Mississauga Association of Graduate Students executive committee in 2013-2014, as well as ongoing work with UTM’s food service advisory board. He very much looks forward to contributing to the expanding and dynamic landscape here at UTM by sitting on the UTM Campus Council and is very humbled and grateful to be able to observe and participate in the forward evolution of this campus for now and in the years to come.

Mr. Ball’s previous assignments include being a member of the UTM Academic Affairs Committee.  Mr. Ball was elected to UTM Campus Council as a graduate student, for a one-year term on Campus Council, from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016.
