  • This scholarship is renewed on the basis that you continuously maintain full-time registration at UTM in the Fall/Winter sessions.
  • Students must achieve and maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.70.
  • Students need to have completed at least 4.0 credits by the end of the Fall/Winter session of each year to qualify for renewal of the scholarship.
  • Students with a documented disability will need to complete 3.0 credits by the end of the Fall/Winter session of each year to qualify for renewal of the scholarship.
  • The award may be renewed up to three consecutive times.
  • Eligibility for renewal is assessed at the end of the Fall/Winter session and is paid in the subsequent Fall/Winter session

Scholarships Requiring an Application

C. David Naylor University Scholarships
Quantity: Up to 10
Value: $20,000
Application Required & Deadline: November 4, 2017 (Application on Join U of T)
Criteria: The C. David Naylor University Scholarships are awarded to domestic students entering any first entry program at the University of Toronto on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated leadership excellence (including, but not limited to arts, sports, music, entrepreneurship or social enterprise). Eligible candidates must have a minimum admission average of 95%. Up to 10 scholarships will be awarded annually, each valued at $20,000.

Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships
Quantity: 37 (approx.)
Value: U of T’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship for international students. The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships will cover tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years.

Criteria: The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships at the University of Toronto provide an unparalleled opportunity for outstanding international students to study at one of the world’s best universities in one of the world’s most multicultural cities. The scholarship program is intended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and creativity and who are recognized as leaders within their school. A special emphasis is placed on the impact the student has had on the life of their school and community, and their future potential to contribute positively to the global community.

National Scholarship
Quantity: 10
Value: Tuition x 4 yrs; residence support in Year 1; plus a varying renewable cash award

Criteria: Open to applicants to any U of T campus. Based on academic excellence coupled with creativity, intellectual enthusiasm and school/community involvement. Special consideration and essay. 

Arbor Scholarship
Quantity: 10
Value: $7,500 in first year; renewable at $1,500 in upper years
Application Required & Deadline: November 4, 2017 (Secondary school nominates one candidate or students may apply directly ONLINE.)
Criteria: The Arbor Scholarship is awarded to runners-up of the National Scholarship competition. Each year approximately ten students are selected as National Scholars (winners) and approximately ten students are selected as Arbor Scholars (runners-up). 

Mississauga Board of Trade Entrance Award in Commerce and Management
Quantity: 3

Criteria: Awarded to newly admitted UTM students who intend to pursue a Major/Specialist in either a Commerce or Management Program and who have extensive involvement in extra-curricular and community-based volunteer activities. Academic merit and financial need are also considered.

Student Leader Entrance Scholarship

Criteria: Awarded to newly admitted UTM students who have attained high academic achievement in high school and have demonstrated leadership through their involvement in high school activities

UTM Residence Community Entrance Scholarships

Criteria: Awarded to newly admitted, full-time UTM students who have extensive involvement in community-based volunteer activities prior to entering university and who will be living in student residence at UTM. Academic merit is also considered.


Automatic Scholarships

The University of Toronto offers a variety of scholarships and awards in partnership with other organizations. The following require no application and are awarded automatically.

Arthur Lindsay Fernie Endowment Award in Drama

A.W. Oughtred Memorial Admission Scholarship

Canadian Federation of University Women – Mississauga Admission Scholarship

Criteria: Awarded to a female student entering first year with high academic standing. The scholarship is renewable for 3 more years providing the winner remains in full-time studies and maintains a GPA of at least 3.50. If the student loses the scholarship it will not be renewed in any subsequent year but will immediately revert to a new student entering first year.

City of Mississauga Pope John Paul II Admission Scholarship

Criteria: To be awarded to the student graduating with the highest standing from a Mississauga Secondary School who is enrolling in full-time studies at UTM in Year 1. This scholarship may be combined with any other admission scholarship provided the maximum aggregate value does not exceed $5000

Clarkson Rotary Club and Peel Region Science Fair Scholarship

Criteria: To be awarded to a full-time student, with high academic standing, admitted to a Science program. The student must be a graduate of a Region of Peel high school.

Gera and Nirula Achievement Award

Criteria: Awarded to an undergraduate student entering full-time studies in Year 1 on the basis of financial need. Academic merit will also be considered. The student must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident prior to enrolling at UTM. The Award is renewable for three more years provided that the recipient remains in full-time studies at UTM and maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, and participates in on-campus or off-campus volunteer activities, which demonstrates service and giving back to the community.

L.M. Picchione Admission Scholarship in Italian

Criteria: To be awarded to an outstanding high school student based on their academic achievement in a senior level Italian course and on the recommendation of the Italian Department. Payment conditional on registering at UTM in one of the following courses, ITA200Y or higher level courses
