Refugee Pathway

About this Pathway

The U of T Mississauga Refugee Pathway (UTMRP) offers recent refugees who may meet traditional admission requirements, but who do not have access to required documents, the opportunity to create a basis of admission on which to be considered for entry to undergraduate degree studies at the University.

We understand that many refugees coming to Canada have unique situations and varied educational backgrounds. For example some students:

  • have not completed high school but are ready to attend a local high school;
  • have completed high school and are now ready to enter university level studies;
  • have started degree studies in their home country and are now needing to transfer;
  • have completed degrees and are looking how to transfer the credentials or continue on with a graduate/professional level of studies.

We can work with you to help them determine the best pathway that suits your academic goals.

Admission & Program Requirements

To qualify for the UTMRP, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age in the year the pathway begins
  • Be a Permanent Resident or Convention Refugee in Canada.1 Status in Canada must be approved (i.e. Notice of Decision is required to show approved Refugee Status in Canada)
  • Copies of transcripts from previous Secondary and Post-Secondary studies (if available)
