While researching institutions that provide forensic science programs in North America, Gerald came across the University of Toronto Mississauga and decided to apply. Gerald plans to work in the field of forensic chemistry, ideally in the government lab in Hong Kong, which is similar to the role that the Centre of Forensic Sciences plays in Toronto.

  • This international experience was definitely beneficial to me. First of all, studying in Canada improved my English, especially in writing because forensic courses require lots of writing. Over the years of my studies, I have gained hands-on experience in using a range of analytical instruments, got to know more about the forensic practice and court systems in Canada, and so on. Although the routine forensic practice may not be all transferable to my country, I believe these skills and experience are useful to me in the future.
