Each year, the FLC hires students to work in the FLC as FLC Student Assistants.  Students typically work at least two four-hour shifts a week during the week or on weekends.

FLC Student Assistants provide both database and technical support to users of FLC and other business databases and ensure the lab is clean and functioning.  They are often assigned special projects and are expected to participate in all FLC events throughout the year.

We look for 2nd, 3rd or 4th year students, ideally from the Departments of Management or Economics, with:

  • A passion for finance, investing or business
  • Some knowledge of Excel and at least one of our two core databases, FactSet or Bloomberg
  • A commitment to customer service and ongoing learning

This year, we are looking to hire up to 4 students, with at least one specialized role, which would focus on supporting the annual IMI Finance Competition.

Job postings will be available in the Career Centre by the end of July, with in-person interviews tentatively scheduled for the middle of August.  Training will be scheduled for the end of August and/or the beginning of September, with a start date after Labour Day.

To be alerted when the postings go live, please email utml.lkcflc@utoronto.ca with 'FLC Job Posting Notification' in the subject heading to be placed on a mailing list.

Questions?  Feel free to drop by the FLC and talk to a current FLC Student Assistant or Helen Kula, Coordinator, IMI Library Services.  You can also email Helen at helen.kula@utoronto.ca to make an appointment.
