1917: The Halifax Explosion
adapted by the Company
under the direction of Meredith Scott
from Mary Ann Monnon's Miracles and Mysteries
and Janet Kitz & Joan Payzant's December 1917
with music direction by Anthony Bastianon and movement by Marc Richard

A Theatre Erindale World Première!
On December 6, three years into WWI, a French ship laden with explosives collided with another in Halifax Harbour and created the greatest man-made catastrophe before the atom bomb - causing unparalleled destruction to the unsuspecting city and its people. Our new third-year class creates a colourful original docu-drama with music focused on the recollections of actual survivors - stunning tales of confusion, injury, loss, and the eventual resurgence of hope.

Our Country's Good
by Timberlake Wertenbaker
directed by Patrick Young

The true story of the first play ever staged in Australia
This disturbing and often surprisingly funny tour-de-force by one of Britain's most provocative writers won the BBC and New York Drama Critics Awards and has been produced the world over. In 1789, in the penal colony that will become a new country, under threat of starvation as well as the lash and the noose, a young lieutenant struggles to rehearse The Recuiting Officer with a cast of criminals. "A triumph ... a tribute to the transforming power of drama." - The Guardian
(Note: Course language and mature subject matter.)
