Approach to Teaching

In teaching university students, I seek to foster an open-minded learning environment where strong art-making practices intersect with critical discourse. When supporting students to develop their artistic practice, I encourage them to engage with their work on three fundamental levels: aesthetic, historical/cultural and technical. As an instructor, I believe it is important to offer support and direction to students on a continual basis. I believe that a gathering of diverse opinions and different approaches to art helps create an atmosphere in which students are able to make informed aesthetic decisions about their work.
