Funding Opportunities

Postdoctoral fellows typically secure funding from external granting agencies, or through faculty supervisor grants and/or research stipends. There are a variety of funding opportunities that support personal stipends and research initiatives available for Canadian and International postdocs across several research fields.

Mitacs is a not-for-profit Canadian organization that works with 60 universities, federal and provincial governments, and thousands of private companies in order to enhance research, policy and entrepreneurial training programs in Canada. Mitacs hosts several programs dedicated to training graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in industry, academia and government.

Funding opportunities provided by Mitacs include the Accelerate internship, the Elevate postdoctoral fellowship that includes training in research management, and a Canadian Science Policy Fellowship that integrates academic research with government science policy-making.
