Student Exchange Program

Student Exchange

The University of Toronto has more than 130 partner university institutions in 40 different countries spanning six continents around the world. Each year, partner universities agree to accept a limited number of U of T students into their programs. In exchange, U of T accepts students from our partner universities. Exchange programs provide second- or third-year students with excellent opportunities to experience new cultures and learn new languages while earning credits towards their U of T degrees.

As an outbound Exchange Student you may:

  1. Remain a U of T student, and pay U of T tuition fees
  2. Go on exchange for one semester or for a full academic year
  3. Participate in a Summer research program
  4. Choose your own accommodation or live on-campus residence
  5. Apply for financial aid if you are eligible for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
  6. Earn transfer credits towards your U of T degree (for most courses):

Minimum Academic Requirements

  • Must be in good standing and have completed at least 4.0 full credits
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.25 is required for consideration (some partners require a higher GPA — please consult the list of Eligibility Criteria)
