Shawn Collins leads ERS 202 Fieldtrip to see Paleozoic rocks of the Michigan Basin

Dynamic Earth (ERS202) students attended a fieldtrip to Ancaster/Dundas to learn about the geologic history of the Paleozoic rocks that comprise the Michigan Basin. Students learned about sedimentary environments and the difficulty correlating strata. The students also had the opportunity to apply skills developed in the lab by using a compass to measure the strike and dip of horizontal strata in the field. The trip concluded with trips to Tiffany and Sherman Falls to experience some of the most aesthetically pleasing geomorphological features in Southern Ontario.
