Dennis Fernandes (Supervisor: Professor Claudiu Gradinaru) has been awarded an Ontario Graduate Scholarship at the University of Toronto. Dennis is a new PhD student in Physics (graduated from UTM this year). Dennis will study the interaction between G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) and their G-protein using single-molecule fluorescence techniques. This interaction is very important for the treatment of various diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders.
