Web Technology Services
Web Technology Services provides an avenue with which the UTM staff, student and faculty have an open, affordable and dynamic medium to explore the electronic representation of their many facetted objectives at UTM.
Most of our projects come from the staff/departments at UTM. Some come from research instructors. Some projects are campus wide projects.
Web Technology Services supports:
- Custom, secure web applications
- Unix based technologies (as opposed to Microsoft Windows)
- Oracle and MySQL databases and perl, PHP and Java programming languages
In some cases the project owner secures their own programmers. We offer an environment to host their web site if they choose to host it at UTM. We also offer a development environment for their programmers should they require one.If you see an open source package that will accomplish your needs, UTM offers an environment to install the application. Again, only Unix based software packages are currently supported.
Project requests should come through the Computing Services Trouble ticket. Once we receive it we will contact you to go over details of what you want done. Once we have the details we will determine a quote if the project is chargeable. Once the project gets the go ahead, Computing Services will start development. During the development period, we meet with the project owner regularly to report on the progress of the project. Upon completion, the project is tested by the owner and once issues are resolved, the project is released for production.
