Network Services

Network Services contributes to Computing Services’ mission and vision through excellence in the provision of a secure yet open wired and wireless network that allows the UTM community the opportunity to access electronic information, network services and protects the integrity and confidentiality of information.

The planning, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of these systems is critical to the smooth operation and maximum benefits of Information Technology at U of T Mississauga.

Network Services supports:

  • Hardware, administration, and security of the utm network architecure spanning 14 network, 226 switches, 5739 hosts, and connectivity to Sheridan College and U of T St. George. campus.
  • Systems administartion and support of 81 Linux, OSX, Solaris, and Windows NT/2000/2003 Servers including but not limited to Oracle databases, UTM's VPN, 6 firewalls, 6 Active Directory Servers, DNS Servers, File Servers, Application Servers, Print Servers, and Faculty/deparment Servers.
  • Administration of over 14 TB of Storage Attached Network disks used for Faculty, Staff, and Students disk space, server storage space, and backup facilities
  • The administration of the campus enterprise backup solution that houses over 15 TB of backup data for all critical services.
  • Weekend standby coverrage, which includes:
    • Core network equipement (dhcp,DNS, the link to St. George and all edge devices)
    • file and print services
    • database Services
    • web services (all excluding development web services)
    • authorization services
