Alumni Connections - FAQ for Students
How does the Alumni Career Connections Program work?
This program allows current students the opportunity to connect with UT Mississauga alum who are working in a career area of interest, allowing you to learn more about what others have done with their degree and career decisions/challenges they faced along the way. After you browse the list and have identified a particular alum you would like to speak with, complete the online application form on our web site. Once you are given the go-ahead by the Career Centre, we'll give you the contact information for the alum to arrange for the information interview.
When will the program launch?
This program will launch in January 2009.
Is this a one-time only thing?
Most of our alum have agreed to meet with students one time for an informational interview. Some have also indicated they are open to the possibility of informal mentoring. By this, we mean they may be willing to speak to students more than once, depending on the specific situation. If this is the case, you'll be told this when approved by the Career Centre.
You may only request contact with one alum at a time, but there is not a limit on how many alum you can connect within a given year.
What types of questions should I ask?

- Can you give me a description of a typical day?
- What are the challenges and rewards of your position?
