The winner of the 2011 Best Student Paper Award is Lucas Parreiras from the Anderson and Kohn labs. Lucas’s paper entitled “Cellular effects and epistasis among three determinants of adaptation in experimental populations of Saccharomyces cerevisiae” appeared in the October issue of Eukaryotic Cell. Congratulations, Lucas!

The Time Machine Experiment – A field experiment simulating future climate to understand how conifers will respond climate change

Ingo Ensminger and his group have established a new experiment at the Koffler Scientific Reserve at Jokers Hill. In their experiment, temperature is manipulated to simulate future warmer climate. Their infrastructure is capable of elevating air temperature while all other environmental factors remain constant. This is achieved through a temperature free-air controlled enhancement experiment (T-FACE).

Hottest Student Paper Award

The Hottest Student Paper Award is presented annually in the spring to a UTM Biology Graduate Student who published the “hottest” paper in the preceding calendar year. For example, this June we will announce the winner of the best graduate student paper published in 2014. The criteria for the award are as follows:
