Marc Johnson, one of three UTM researchers to receive ERA funding

Marc Johnson, one of Biology's newest assistant professors, wins $140,000 in funding from the government of Ontario’s Early Researcher Awards (ERA). The funding allows recently appointed Ontario researchers to build their teams—and for Marc, it means he can get his lab working quickly on cutting-edge research.

Working with Erika Hersch-Green (Michigan Technological University), Marc Johnson and his lab show that sexual reproduction strengthens an organism's ability to adapt. More specifically, it may lead to stronger disease resistance.
