Nominated Awards Description

 

Alice H. Pearson Intramural Athletes of the Year
Presented to the male and female athletes that have participated and contributed significantly to UTM Campus Rec Intramural Program. Award looks for students in their graduating year who have participated in mostly UTM Campus Rec, however it is open to all student athletes.

Referees of the Year
Presented to the referees who have shown outstanding leadership, consistency, impartiality and strong commitment to UTM’s Fair Play Code while officiating in UTM's Campus Rec Intramural, U of T Intramural and Extramural programs.

UTM Student Leadership Award
Presented to the student who has demonstrated superior leadership skills and who has enhanced the UTM experience through the Athletic and Recreation Program at the University of Toronto at Mississauga.

UTM Fair Play Award
Presented to the male and female student who have best exemplified the UTM Department of Physical Education’s Fair Play Code while participating in the Athletic and Recreation Program.

Coaches of the Year
Presented to the UTM U of T Intramural coaches who have strived for fair play, shown outstanding leadership skills, dedication and a commitment to improve his or her athlete’s abilities.

Cynthia E. Haddow Memorial Award
Presented to the female student who best exemplifies leadership, enthusiasm, and strong commitment to her U of T Intramural team. She strives for self-improvement and is a true sportsman.

UTM Eagles Varsity Rookies of the Year
Presented to the Male and Female Varsity Athletes who are in their first year of study at UTM and who have made significant contributions to their respective varsity teams both on and off the playing surfaces in their Rookie year.  Coaches will nominate athletes from their respective teams.

James J. Rae – Athlete of the Year
James J. Rae was the first Registrar of Erindale College. He was well respected by his staff and by the students he helped. He could often be found during lunch hunched over a chess board in the North Building Cafeteria playing with a student. The James J. Rae award is presented to the graduating female student who has contributed the most to UTM athletics. Commonly referred to as the "Athlete of the Year". However, the award also acknowledges the student's contributions to athletics not only as an athlete, but through leadership roles as: official, coach, Athletic Council Rep, League commissioner etc.

J. Tuzo Wilson – Athlete of the Year
J. Tuzo Wilson was a former principal of Erindale College and a world renowned Scientist. His memory lives on as builder of the College in a variety of places on Campus, including the prestigious award which is presented annually to the graduating male student who has contributed the most to UTM athletics. Commonly referred to as the "Athlete of the Year". However, the award also acknowledges the student's contributions to athletics not only as an athlete, but through leadership roles such as: official, coach, Athletic Council Rep, League commissioner etc.
