Write Nights and Writing Retreats

Write Nights

Date: Mondays, September 18, 2017 to December 4, 2017

Time: 7:00pm till 8:30pm in OPH second floor seminar room, drop-in basis

Come, write with us!

If you’re looking for a quiet place to write – and maybe some informal help with your writing - during the Winter Term, Residence has a great opportunity for you. Starting on January 9th, every Monday from 6-8pm the OPH second floor seminar room will be transformed into a writing retreat.  Someone from the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre (RGASC) will be on site, so you can get helpful advice on writing, or just someone to bounce ideas off of. And even if you don’t have any questions, it’s a nice space to get some writing work done in the company of other writers. Feel free to stay for the two hours or just a couple of minutes—it’s up to you!

Writing Retreats

Date: Fridays, September 15, 2017 to December 8, 2017

Time: 10:00am till 12:00pm in 390k of the UTM Library (HMALC), drop-in basis

Details: Writing can be tough, and it can also be lonely work. Sometimes we need help when we’re writing; sometimes it’s just easier to be creative and inspired when you have other people around. If you are currently working on a piece of writing and looking for a place where you can work on it and get help when you need it, you should consider coming to the RGASC’s Writing Retreats this Fall Reading Week.

At these Retreats, experienced Writing Instructors will be working on their own writing projects (everybody's writing!), but they’ll also be available to help out with your writing in progress, whether that involves informal group instruction or one-on-one assistance. You can bring your questions, or bring your writing; you can stay for a couple of hours or just drop by for a few minutes. Either way, these Retreats will give you an opportunity to get some writing done. They’re spaces where writing can happen in the company of others - and you might be surprised at how much of a difference that can make.
