TOPIC TITLE:
The End of the World as We Know it: Anthropology of Climate Change, Crisis, and Catastrophe. 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course course investigates how cultural understandings of time, risk, and catastrophe influence human anticipation and response to natural disasters such as climate change, earthquakes, and epidemic disease. We will examine the differential impacts of these disasters by class, race, age, and gender and speculate on how to build a future that mitigates or avoids such effects. 

PRE-REQUISITES:
1.0 credits in 300 level anthropology courses and departmental approval.
